Tips For A Happy and Cost Efficient Summer

By Carol Ann

Beside Christmas vacation, summer vacation is one of the most exciting time for kids. So what can you do, over the next two and a half months, that will keep you kids entertained, out of trouble and engaged, without emptying your bank account?

Summertime is known for fun and spontaneous thrills. But even a spontaneous act can be planned a little. If you live near a beach or other swimming area, pack up a cooler with lunch and head on out. A day in the water can be just whats needed most on those hard to get away fro the heat days. By packing a cooler for lunch it is not only fun, but cheap. No need to buy anything just pack whatever type of lunch food you have available in your home.

You can also purchase season passes for local amusement parks. These passes are great to use all year round, and during the summer you can go and ride your favorites one day, view the exhibits and displays the next and so on. To make this even more cost efficient pack a lunch and eat it prior to entering the park. When they kids are there on a full stomach they will not be bothering you to eat while you are inside.

There are also plenty of local activities for your kids to enjoy. Where I am there are water parks, museum and many other fun activities for the kids at a low to no cost. You can find these activities on web pages, in local papers or through friends. The Library is also another free activity for your child, but instead of getting scholarly books try getting fun books like how to draw cartoon, or make paper airplanes. This a fun idea for children of all ages, and for the most part, unless you need paper supplies, it is free.

There are also plenty of free day camps during the summer, most of them are sponsored and held at local churches, which might be an option and is usually fun and engaging, especially for younger kids.

The possibilities for summer time activities are endless. From arts and crafts, home project and water fun. These do not cost and arm and a leg and will insure the children have fun while be productive.

Although many of these suggestions relate to a parent who stays at home, they can be done by anyone. Whoever it is that looks after your children will enjoy these ideas as much as you would, summer fun is for people of all ages!

Mei Tai Brings Western Parents a Taste of the East

By Leah Higginbotham

In eastern cultures baby wearing has become a natural part of life. Not only does a sling or other baby carrier offer support and comfort but Asian inspired carriers have a simple learning curve that brings eastern wisdom into the western world.

The Mei Tai sling may look like nothing more than a fancy piece of cloth, but don't be fooled! This versatile sling can be used for front, or back carrying and can adjust to fit a smaller infant, or a curious toddler who wants to view the world from your back. Since becoming popular in the US the Mei Tai sling has some added features like longer straps, and extra support to appeal to new parents.

This sling has made it's place in history helping woman carry their children for hundreds upon hundreds of years, and that alone should tell you this is an excellent product to purchase. There are also hundreds of versions of the Mei Thai, but almost all of them feature the updated western features we have mentioned, and the differences are in the style, and material used.

Pronounced may tie, these Asian inspired baby carriers have been in use for hundreds of years to secure children to their caregiver in a comfortable and secure position. In essence, the mei tai style of infant carrier is a square or rectangle piece of cloth with strips at each corner used to secure an infant to his caregiver.

Mothers also like this Asian baby carrier because it is fashionable and comes in a variety of colors. Other unique features include two padded shoulder straps and waist straps and it has a square body. This give you unlimited ways to position your child and it is a one size fits all carrier; which means it doesn't have to be fitted to your baby.

Many of the structured infant carriers of today are based on this Southern Chinese design. The straps and simple square cushioning has become the model for carriers made by well known commercial companies. However, these companies do not offer the same simplicity that can be found in a carrier labeled mei tai.

Many carriers don't offer the hip position, so check out other baby slings if you're looking for something that has that feature! The Mei Thai will run you between sixty, to eighty dollars which is bit more pricey than others, but the upside is that these will last well into toddler years, so it's money well spent! Check out reviews on websites to see if this is the infant carrier for you.

The Mei Tai carrier is very simple to use and there are many great pictures to show you exactly how to wrap it. Moms say it only takes a little practice and you can create any style you want with it.

At a purchase price of $80, the Mei Tai Baby carrier can be used for years as your baby grows in height and weight because the straps are made so long. It also includes the standard option for extra large straps, toy ring and the reusable polyester carrying bag.

Do Teenagers Really "Need" Mobile Phones?

By Sperl Danick

The cell phone manufacturers are in the business of creating demand for their phones and one way they do that is to keep coming out with newer and fancier models. It seems like every time you buy a new phone, you find that a newer model is soon to be released. One thing people might do is to give their used phones to their kids whenever they buy a new one. This way they are able to get more use out of each phone and get more for their money.

Teenagers want to have cell phones so badly that they would most likely be very happy to get any kind of cell phone. Any working phone that will let them text their friend is all they need. As most modern cell phones have many of the same features, if you keep buying the newest model you are not getting much in return. Now that the economy is so poor though, people might be holding off on their habit of always buying the latest and greatest models.

New cell phones can be expensive and many people dont want to pay that much for something they dont use all that much. Times are tight now and people are looking for ways to save money. This means they are willing to buy a used phone that someone else has no need for. So, where can you go to get a cheap phone or a used phone?

If you want to find a cheap used cell phone, you need to go online. There is a whole array of cell phones in all price ranges online as so many people have phones sitting around their house that go unused after they upgrade to the latest model. Two of the best places to go online are Craigslist and Ebay. Finding the exact cell phone you want that is in decent condition may be a bit hard though as many people really give their phones a workout and they look old and used quickly.

If you buy a used phone online, you should be careful and ask questions to make sure you understand what you are agreeing to buy. You need to make sure your phone will work with the carrier you use, as some phones will only work with certain carriers. In the event that you do make a mistake and buy a phone that is meant to work with another carrier, you will have to find someway to make the phone work or put it back up for sale. There are also unlock codes you can often use to make any phone work with any carrier.

How I Came Up With the Idea for My Mom at Home Business; My Mom-Entrepreneur Dynasty

By Jennifer Hess

Who am I?

I am a woman who wears many hats; wife, mother, Certified Management Accountant, and the owner of an online kids clothing store. The motivation to start my own company came from when I returned to work after my maternity leave and failed to find the same personal satisfaction with my job that I had experienced before I had my children. I wanted to experience personal growth but still be actively involved in the lives of my children. Being a mom entrepreneur is one of the biggest and satisfying roles I have had in my life. I have the best of both worlds and I am much happier with this new balance in my life...and at the end of the day a happier better mom.

The Idea and Where it Came From...

The short answer to the question is...my kids. While I was home on maternity leave my day had to be very organized or I never got anything accomplished. The internet became a lifeline to reconnect to the outside world and provide the research on various products I needed. With two kids, often the only way to survive a shopping trip is to know exactly what you need and where to get it. Shopping with two kids can be summarized in one word...stressful.

Leisurely is not an adjective to describe one mom and two kids in a mall. Hectic, insane, chaotic come to mind but there is nothing relaxing about trying to keep both eyes and hands on your kids and try to locate whatever you need on the store shelves.

As a result I ended up buying a lot of what I needed directly online and avoiding the stopping stress altogether. I discovered I could find a lot of neat baby products but I had difficulty finding affordable kids clothing. I could find some expensive baby boutiques or international stores (some of them the larger well known brand names) but by the time I factored in the exchange rate or the customs duty tax the clothing became too expensive for my maternity leave budget.

At Last...the Idea

When I mixed my desire to be my own boss and work out of the house plus an identified need for affordable online clothing and mixed it all up I found the perfect idea for an online store. That is the background behind Growing Growing Gone; an online clothing store for children that has new brand name kids clothing at discounted prices for the baby, kid or teen in your life, and brought to you by a mom who has been there and understands.

Online shopping is the hassle free way for a parent to shop. When you have five minutes you can leisurely browse the clothing racks at your own pace and should you have to put back on the parenting hat, your shopping cart will be there for you when you return. There is no embarrassment if your kids throw a temper tantrum, there is no worry that the clothing racks will become the perfect hide and go seek spot; everything can be done from the comfort of your own home.

I spoke of my entrepreneur dynasty in the title. The dynasty I hope to leave for my children is the ability to dream and to have the courage to follow your dream. My dream has not been easy and some days there are not enough hours to get everything done, however I know it was the right decision for me.

Natural ADHD Remedies

By Julie Hellstrom

This is our experience with ADHD natural remedies. We've tried several different things, and what we've found is that different things work for different kids. Medication, natural ADHD remedies, and behavior modification programs have all worked with our kids. This particular article is about ADHD natural remedies.

Out of our five adopted children (which is more common than most realize), three have either ADHD or ADD. Four years after taking her medication, our fifteen year old announced that she "is her own person" and is no longer interested in taking her meds. This rash choice has affected her in that she has gotten into some trouble.

My son, who is eleven, has started on some medication and it has helped him with bedwetting at night, and is doing well. He can now better enjoy sleepovers.

My baby has been, unfortunately, diagnosed with ADHD. This is only one of many issues that my youngest has to deal with. While he battles cerebral palsy, he also has sensory integrations disorder. This makes dealing with his ADHD a real challenge. His body will literally reject anything that smells out of the ordinary or any textures in his mouth. After exploring many different kinds of meds, we discovered that this was the reason he wasn't able to take his meds. Due to this setback, we have set up a counseling fund!

Believe me, I tried everything! Hide it in ice cream, sprinkle it on waffles, pushing it back on his tongue. He just couldn't swallow it and he could definitely taste the bitterness. So then we tried the patch.

Since the only form available was the stimulant form, we found that there was a high price to pay. Upon the medication wearing off, we found our son had destructive tendencies and would be in tears. This was not working either.

A naturopath suggested that caffeine could balance out the symptoms our son was showing. So, much to his delight, he enjoyed a Diet Pepsi with his lunch everyday for about six months. It couldn't contain sugar as this would be counterproductive. There wasn't much change. The doctor informed us to look into other issues besides the ADHD. I couldn't take anymore.

In a fit of desperation, I googled "my kid has adhd and can't take meds". Several homeopathic remedies came up! Hmm, maybe on to something here. So I did some research and decided to try a product called Focus Formula from Native Remedies. All natural ingredients was a definite plus. Downside, minimum 3 weeks to see results. We went ahead anyway.

The outcome was incredible! I have just ordered my second bottle. For staying on task at school, my kiddo went from earning zero points (the lowest) to eleven (the highest)! Three months later, my son is self motivated where his homework is concerned, is more focused, while earning an average of eight points at school. His frustration level is dramatically reduced. One of the biggest perks is that the medication is in droplet form and not pills. Just a few drops in his root beer and he gulps it down. He will even add the drops himself!

I am overjoyed and my son is much happier. It has made such a difference in our boy. If your having the same issues that we were with 'pill swallowing' than you might consider what we did. Look into some natural ADHD remedies like Focus Formula, it made all the difference for our baby.

Keep Your Baby Safe and Fashionable with Baby Crib Bedding

By Dorothea Frankson

Infant crib bedding is a soothing part of your newborn's well-being; keeping him/her warm, snuggled, and cozy. Safety is also a function of your baby's crib bedding. First, your baby's bedding provides a warm shelter for him. Crib safety bars are usually padded with bumpers as a protection for the baby. Having baby bumpers dramatically decreases the risk of a child getting their arms or legs stuck between the rungs. Considering the security they provide, they are a necessity for your child.

The sheets of cribs were designed to add additional warmth to the crib of a baby. A crib sheet will also protect the baby from the plastic mattress protector, which is blocks urine from the absorbent mattress.

Babies love to feel the warmth of a nice blanket as it safely keeps them at the right temperature. You baby will be kept warm and cozy on those cold winter nights. Swaddling is important for newborn babies, in fact it is one of the first things you will be taught in the hospital. Swaddling provides your newborn with a similar to being in their mothers womb. Very strong is the emotional connection between children and their receiving blankets. A particular character strikes the mind from Charlie Brown.

When a parent considers a bedding's protection, warmth, and contentment for a baby, one can see that bedding is essential in a crib. But you do need to remember that good baby bedding will last longer and be more comfortable than cheaper sets. The thicker material and higher thread-count are warmer, and fewer dyes help to make baby safer. As a child grows, they tend to wear out their bedding. Because of this, it is a good idea to make sure that the bedding you purchase is of high quality. Inexpensive low quality bedding will be more expensive in the long run because you will have to replace it often. It is better to purchase good quality more expensive babies bedding sets.

While safety is of utmost concern to parents, they also want to be in step with the latest trends in nursery decor. Many companies offer safe and stylish bedding for baby cribs. These come in such a variety that there seems to be one for every personality. Making certain that your babies room will blend with the rest of your home will ensure that your new baby has a sense of security and belonging. The crib in any child's room should be essential to the themed look of the room so that it does not look out of place. The baby's crib is the first thing that should be noticed when walking into baby's room. Whether you are trying to design a safe nursery or one which blends with your house, crib bedding will be the main way to meet these needs. To ensure that your baby sleeps safely and in style, this department should not be overlooked.

Senior Home Care Services: Advantages of Home Care

By Grem

As the American people grow older, the focus on the capacity of desirable services will have to line up with the quality of the care given. Over time a spotlight has been placed on how well residents who reside in a care facility are treated. Some know that the type of care an individual obtains depends on how much family members are involved.

Some older children have difficulty with placing their senior parents in a nursing home because of the pessimistic press. Cost is also a factor in making this choice. An alternative to nursing homes is senior home care services, which allow a person to remain in their home and receive the level of care that they will need.

Along with determining the price and care, the types of elderly home care services are selected based on an individuals need. Insurance companies have sought ways to shrink the costs of hospitalization and treatment services, which has opened the door for care handlers who concentrate in giving these services at an individual home.

This reduces health care costs and provides an older adult to remain in their homes. The home care landscape has grown into a viable industry, giving greater options for people to choose from. The rewards of obtaining home care services rather than living in a nursing home cannot be miscalculated.

The cognitive aspect of being able to preserve some level of sovereignty can go a long way to improving the superiority of life for countless older adults. Most seniors only require assistance with regular, daily activities which may include transportation to doctors appointments, grocery shopping, or bathing. Still, others may require more continuous management, depending on their infirmity and how far it has progressed.

A person who obtains senior home care services can have more individual interest than someone who lives in a nursing home. In a nursing home, an inadequate amount of staff must attend to several different people with varying levels of care. Receiving care at home can cost less than it does in a nursing home because of faculty costs that are factored into nursing homes.

The annual costs of a nursing home vary by state, but in most cases, the costs far exceed the average earnings of many older people. Those with Medicare shortly find out that it simply covers a tiny portion of long-term care, and that coverage is inadequate to the sort and quantity of days. The people that cannot afford to supplement the costs of a nursing home might want to give home care services serious reflection.
